Gregg Allman is at home and “resting,” according to a message from the singer on his Facebook page, despite a blog post suggesting otherwise.
Hours after a report began circulating Monday that Allman had entered hospice care, the singer’s publicist refuted the claim.
A message from Allman on his Facebook page says, “Hey everyone. I just wanted y’all to know that I’m currently home in Savannah resting on my doctor’s orders. I want to thank you for all the love that you are sending. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. Keep Rockin’.”
In March, the Southern rock icon announced that he was canceling his tour dates for the remainder of the year.
Early Monday morning, fellow Georgia musician Travis Tritt posted a tweet sending prayers to Allman. The Allman Brothers founder has endured many illnesses over the years, including pneumonia last summer and his well-documented liver transplant – a result of untreated hepatitis C – in 2010.
Allman’s last performance was his headlining set at the Laid Back Festival at Lakewood Amphitheatre in October.
