Former Gene Loves Jezebel frontman Jay Aston to play Eddie’s Attic this weekend

61-atxlTake a goth-drenched trip back to the ’80s in the intimate listening room at Eddie’s Attic. Jay Aston was the frontman for Gene Loves Jezebel, which rode the goth wave out of Wales and took the darkness into the mainstream with radio hits “Desire” and “Heartache.”

London’s the Bolshoi, fronted by Trevor Tanner, worked in similarly gloomy realms, but was never quite as glam as Gene Loves Jezebel. The show gets underway with a rare solo set from Jack Richard Sobel, mainstay of contemporary crafters of the shadowy musical arts Black Swan Lane (and owner of Cabbagetown restaurant Agave).

9:30 p.m. Friday. $15-$20. Eddie’s Attic, 515-B N. McDonough St., Decatur. eddiesattic.com.
