Longtime Prince friend and collaborator Sheila E., along with Atlanta’s Janelle Monae, The Roots and D’Angelo will pay tribute to the deceased icon on the BET Awards.

The four artists are part of what is expected to be a larger group that will pay homage throughout the June 26 show, which will air live at 8 p.m. on BET.

Sheila E. and Prince maintained a decades-long relationship (he wrote her pop breakthrough, “The Glamorous Life”), while Monae and D’Angelo were among the first to honor Prince publicly with performances after his April death.

The Roots’ Questlove participated in the much-maligned Billboard Awards Prince tribute, which featured Madonna singing “Nothing Compares 2 U” and Stevie Wonder joining her in an audience sing-along of “Purple Rain.”

Shortly after the Billboard performance, BET tweeted a video with the snarky message, “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you.” The tweet has since been deleted, but now is the network’s chance to deliver.
