Gospel great BeBe Winans worked on what has become “Born for This” for nearly a decade.

On Saturday night, the musical made its world premiere at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre. Former TV evangelist Jim Bakker – so integral to the story of BeBe and CeCe Winans – was in attendance (“I’m scared!” he joked on the red carpet prior to seeing the production for the first time), as well as the majority of the Winans clan, including mom Delores (CeCe was noticeably absent), and friends Jasmine Guy and Georgia Rep. John Lewis.

There is much to love about “Born for This,” including the tremendous performances by Juan and Deborah Joy Winans (as BeBe and CeCe) and scene-stealer Kirsten Wyatt as the ever-unique Tammy Faye Bakker. The musical plays at the Alliance through May 15.

Here are some scenes from Saturday’s premiere.
