Prince’s two Fox Theatre shows sold out immediately.

Prince loyalists stormed social media earlier today to vent their frustrations about the process of buying tickets through the Fox Theatre’s ticketing site.

Stories of a crashing website, endless holds in the “virtual waiting room” and apparent misinformation given by the box office are typical when a massively in-demand concert goes on sale (hi, Adele fans).

But enough people got through that tickets to Prince’s two concerts April 7 at the Fox sold out immediately.

Because of Prince’s abhorrence of ticket scalping, there are unusually strict rules in place for ticket pickup, which means you aren’t going to find any on third-party reseller sites.

Those who managed to score tickets will have to pick them up the day of the concerts (starting at 10 a.m. for the 7 p.m. show and 1 p.m. for the 10 p.m. show) at the Fox box office. Customers were limited to purchase two tickets per show.

Prince’s current “Piano and a Microphone” tour has consisted of hastily scheduled concerts that chronologically spotlight his tremendous catalog. There is no band, no fiery dancers or any of the usual accoutrements at a Prince show – just, as the title says, a piano, microphone and the man himself.

At recent shows, Prince has unwrapped revamped piano versions of “I Wanna Be Your Lover,” turned “Paisley Park” into a blues romp, covered Joni Mitchell and Ray Charles and shared his original version of “Nothing Compares to U.” Other shows have included intimate versions of “I Would Die 4 U,” “When Doves Cry” and “U Got the Look.”
