All week the rumors have been zinging about Axl Rose potentially replacing Brian Johnson in AC/DC.
Word of the possible collaboration – which has since garnered much national press — came from Rock 100.5’s Jason Bailey (nice work on the scoopage!), who seems to have a well-placed source.
On Thursday, AC/DC’s reps responded to the rumors by playing coy and telling NME: “Nothing official to announce. Will update you if that changes.”
So, putting aside the basic logistics of how this would even work considering Guns ‘N Roses is about to reunite in Las Vegas next weekend and a tour seems imminent, WOULD you want to see Axl fronting the legendary Australian band?
According to Bailey, AC/DC was in Atlanta last weekend to audition singers for Johnson’s job and flew Rose in as well. (Johnson, in case you forgot, was supposedly told he had to get off the road immediately or suffer permanent hearing loss. Atlanta, naturally, was the first postponed date.)
True, GnR has covered “Whole Lotta Rosie” on tour, so there’s obviously affection there from Rose, but is this a suitable solution for AC/DC fans?
