‘Amy’ offers an unflinching look at the singer’s life – and now it has Oscar cred.

As I noted in an interview with “Amy “ director Asif Kapadia last summer, one of the most bittersweet moments of the incisive documentary about the late British soul-pop singer came with her Grammy win in 2008.

Now, the memory of Winehouse is celebrated even deeper with an Academy Award for Best Documentary.

A jaunty instrumental of “Rehab” played as Kapadia and producer James Gay-Reese made their way to the podium to pick up their award Sunday night.

Kapadia dedicated the Oscar to “everyone who trusted us…this was about showing the world who (Amy) was, not the tabloid persona.”

Gay-Reese added that the award was for “Amy’s fans” who stuck with her “through thick and thin.”
